Govt to Lock Down Madaripur If Necessary, Says Zahid Maleque

Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that if it is appropriate to contain the further spread of coronavirus in the region, the government could enforce a lockdown on Madaripur district.

"The most endangered areas today are the district of Madaripur and its Shibchar Upazila. Many of the expatriates from Bangladesh, who have returned home from countries seriously impacted by a coronavirus, are from certain regions. The school is also under surveillance. If it is required, we're going to lock down the area, "he said.

This afternoon the minister came up with the comments while holding a media conference at the capital's secretariat.
