200 Houses Put under Lockdown in Dhaka

Some 200 houses were sealed in various sections of the capital, Dhaka, on Tuesday, as a number of residents from those areas tested positive for coronavirus.

Officer-in-charge of Chawkbazar Police Station Moudud Hawladar said they locked 150-200 houses on the first lane and the second lane of Khawaza Dewan Alley in Old Dhaka from 5 p.m.

In addition, four other houses in Gulshan, Badda, Nikunja, and Bashundhara have also been closed down as COVID-19 cases have been registered from those regions, said Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Sudip Kumar Chakraborty.

Five more people died of coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours before Tuesday, taking the overall death toll to 17.

Besides, 41 other people tested positive for COVID-19 during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 164.
