1st Coronavirus Case Confirmed in Sunamganj

A woman in Sunamganj tested positive for coronavirus today, making it the first confirmed case in the district.

The Sylhet Divisional Health Office confirmed the case today after checking samples of a 33-year-old patient, said Dr. Shams Uddin, a civil surgeon at Sunamganj.

The woman was quarantined at home after she started displaying symptoms consistent with the novel coronavirus, reports media.

Afterwards, the Sylhet Divisional Health Office obtained her samples for examination, the civil surgeon said.

The test was positive, the medical office confirmed to the civil surgeon this morning.

The woman is at home and will soon be brought to the hospital, said Sylhet Divisional Health Office Assistant Director (Disease Control) Dr. Anisur Rahman.
