Local administration today locked down five villages and two bazaar areas in Lalmonirhat after a person tested positive for coronavirus.
The infected person, a wood cutter by profession, returned to his home in Guriadaha village in Lalmonirhat, Narayanganj, on Wednesday, with coronavirus-like symptoms.
On Thursday, his sample was sent to the Rangpur Medical College for the COVID-19 test and the response was positive, said Dr. Nirmalendu Roy, a civil surgeon in the district.
Samples of his family members and neighbors have also been sent for testing, he said.
