Special Arrangement for Journos at BSMMU for COVID-19 Test: Hasan

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud told journalists on Monday to contact Bangabandhu Sheik Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) if they are required to undergo coronavirus testing, saying that they are subject to special arrangements.

"The BSMMU authorities have already been informed in this respect. They will find it relevant whether some journalist has asked them for the coronavirus check, "he said. The Minister shared views with a select group of journalists at his official residence.

Mentioning that journalists are working round the clock to ensure emergency services, he called for providing them with necessary protective equipment.

On April 3, 47 staff members of private television channel Independent were put under home-quarantine after one of their colleagues tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, 20 staff members of ATN News, a private TV channel, were sent home quarantine after one of their coworkers tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday night.

Besides Jamuna TV journalist recently tested positive for coronavirus causing the authorities to send 34 of his colleagues home quarantine.
