Joypurhat Locked Down

Joypurhat has been put under lockdown by the district administration to curtail the spread of novel coronavirus.

The authorities took the move after two people tested the district's coronavirus positive for the first time on Thursday night at the Zindapur Union under Kalai Upazila.

The declaration was made by Jakir Hossain, the district deputy commissioner, by issuing a notification in this respect.

The shutdown will continue until further notice, beginning from 10:00 pm on Thursday.

According to the administration order, nobody should be permitted to travel beyond the district and during the lockdown time, anybody from other districts will not be able to reach this area. Also, communications within Upazila's will be halted.

Except for emergency services, all kinds of public transports will remain closed.

Violators of this order will face strict punishment, said the order.
