Barguna Under Lockdown after Elderly Man Dies of COVID-19

Local administration has put Barguna district under lockdown after the death of a 72-year old man from COVID-19 on Friday afternoon in Bibichini village of Betagi Upazila.

Khalilur Rahman breathed his last at Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital at 4:30 pm.

Mostain Billah, the district's deputy commissioner, released the statement Friday night after the man's death by releasing a notice in this regard.

Starting from 10:00 pm on Friday, the lockdown will continue until further notification.

According to the administration order, nobody would be able to travel beyond the district and during the lockdown time, none from other districts will reach this area. The only contact between Upazila's would be halted.

All sorts of public transportation must stay unavailable except for emergency services.

Violators of this order will face strict punishment, said the order.
