Press Council for Incentives to Journo's

Bangladesh Press Council has urged the deputy commissioners of all the districts to prepare lists of journalists and media workers and arrange incentives for them during this time of coronavirus crisis.

A letter signed by its secretary M Shah Alam was sent to all the DCs on Sunday in this regard.

Citing the stimulus packages announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for providing food assistance to those who have become helpless during this pandemic, the letter said journalists and media workers at the district and Upazila levels also need incentives as they have been working risking their lives to reach out information to people’s doorsteps.

The press council urged the DCs to prepare lists of journalists and media workers in consultation with the leaders of respective press clubs and journalist organizations.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed 101 deaths and 2,948 coronavirus cases.
