Ramadan: Moon Sighting Committee Meets This Evening

A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held on Friday to review the details on the presence of the new moon of the Holy month of Ramadan in 1441.

The meeting will take place in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation (IF) in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after the Maghrib prayer with the Minister of State for Religious Affairs and the Chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee, Advocate Sheik Md Abdullah, said the IF press release on Thursday.

If anyone can see the new moon of the Holy month of Ramadan anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh, he or she is requested to notify the Committee by dialing telephone numbers – 9559493, 9555947, 9558337 and 9556407 or by fax numbers – 9563397 and 9555951 or by informing the Deputy Commissions (DC) or Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) concerned.

Meanwhile, Ramadan in Saudi Arabia and other Middle-Eastern countries is expected to fall on Friday, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon.
