9 More Expatriates Die from Coronavirus in US

Nine more Bangladeshis died from coronavirus or COVID-19 in the USA in the last 24 hours.

With this, a total of 187 expatriate Bangladeshis died of COVID-19 in the country since March 24.

The deceased were identified as Syed Qamrul Bashar Jami, 59, of Chattogram, Amirunnesa Khatun, 88, of Sylhet, Mowlana Yousuf, 60, of Chattogram, Parvin Jafar, 58, Bibi Aysha, 68, Mojaffar Islam, 85, of Noakhali, Ershad Ullah, 94, Moinuddin, 62, and Mosabbir Ali, 76.

However, the number of US deaths linked to COVID-19 has surpassed the toll of Americans killed in the Vietnam War, according to a tracker from the Johns Hopkins University.

The pandemic has killed 58,365 people in the United States, the Baltimore-based University said. According to the National Archives, 58,220 Americans were killed in combat and from other causes such as accidents during years of war in Southeast Asia.

The first known US coronavirus-related fatality was February 6, less than three months ago.
