Garment Workers Cannot Enter Dhaka Without ID Card

The ready-made garment factory workers will not be able to enter Dhaka unless they hold identification cards on their own.

The Department of Factory and Establishment Inspection (DIFE) issued a notice in this regard on Saturday.

According to the notice, a garment worker will hold an ID card with him or her if he thinks it is necessary to come to Dhaka for factory work. In fact, the ID card must be displayed to the authority concerned. Otherwise, they might not have been allowed to reach Dhaka.

In the meantime, garment factories in and around Dhaka have already been opened. Ignoring the lock-down rules, the garment workers are heading to Dhaka and other workplaces.

Walking as well as crossing rivers, garment workers are returning to Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and other places for fear of losing their jobs, while public transport is restricted to highways owing to coronavirus outbreaks.
