Coronavirus Cases in Bangladesh Reach 11719, 3 More Death

Three more people died of coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours until Wednesday, and 186 died in the country.

In addition, there are a total of 11,719 reported cases, and 790 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period.

This is the biggest single-day spike ever since the virus was first identified in Bangladesh on March 8.

Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana, Director Additional Director General for Health Services (DGHS), released a regular online health bulletin held at the Management Information System (MIS) on Wednesday afternoon.

In the last 24 hours, several coronavirus testing laboratories around the country tested 6,241 samples, she added.

Earlier on April 16, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) declared the entire country as ‘vulnerable zone’ to virus infection.

Meanwhile, the government of Bangladesh prolonged the general holidays until 15 May to curb the transmission of highly contagious viruses.

Bangladesh reported the first cases of coronavirus on 8 March and its first death on 18 March.

The worldwide coronavirus death rate was 258,340 as of Wednesday.
