RMG Workers Demand Payment of Wages, Eid Bonus by 25th Ramadan

Garment workers' movement, a platform of garment workers, demanded payment of wages and Eid bonus by 25th Ramadan.      

Muhammad Harun-or-Rashid, president of the organization, called for a press conference at the Bangladesh Institute of Architects (IAB) in the city.

They also placed a  9-point demand

Prof. Ashraf Ali Akon, President of Islam Sramik Andolon, said, "Corona outbreak has triggered tremendous casualties in the global manufacturing field. Its negative impact was felt everywhere. As a result, around 7/8 crore employees of various occupations have become unemployed and are living an inhumane situation in the country.    

Mentioning that many garment workers have been diagnosed with coronavirus after the reopening of garment factories he demanded treatment of the affected workers.

Allocation of 50 lakh ration cards for nutritious food ensuing for RMG workers, protection of the working environment, maintenance of hygiene issues, payment of 100% of wages to workers in those factories who remained closed due to coronavirus, taking the necessary steps to stop the retraining of workers, taking steps to ensure that workers are accommodated at a low price and to ensure that workers are treated after the establishment.
