Bangladesh has raised the storm alert to local cautionary signal No 7 for the ports of Mongla and Payra and signal No 6 for the ports of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, as Cyclone Amphan moved further north-west.
With the current speed, the storm is forecast to reach the coast in two days, said Monwar Hossain, a weather officer at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, on Sunday.
Extreme depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
