China Intends to Send an Expert Team in Bangladesh

The Chinese Government has expressed its desire to send an expert team to Bangladesh to address coronavirus or COVID-19, according to a media report.

Chinese President Xi Jinping made a phone call to Prime Minister Sheik Hasina of Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon and addressed the issue.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim confirmed it to media.

“The Chinese president phoned the prime minister around 5 pm today and wanted to know from her about the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh,”  Ihsanul Karim said.

"We 're ready to send an expert team to Bangladesh to avoid coronavirus if you like," Jinping told the Prime Minister.

During a 25-minute conversation, the Chinese President assured Sheik Hasina that his country would continue to support Bangladesh's economic development.

“We’ll always stay beside Bangladesh for its economic uplift and also extend support to the country in the international forum,” he said.

Jinping also stated that China will continue to work to further improve the 'strategic relationship' with Bangladesh.

The press secretary said that the Prime Minister thanked the Chinese President for voicing concern for the coronavirus condition in Bangladesh.

Sheik Hasina repeated her appeal to the international community to work together to counter the pandemic of COVID-19, Karim added.

The two presidents shared their thanks to each other for delivering emergency supplies and other products to their respective countries during the pandemic.
