COVID-19 Deaths Exceed 400, Cases Near 30,000

Bangladesh continues to see a spike in coronavirus cases as 1,773 more people tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours as of Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 28,511.

This is so far the highest number of detected cases in a single day in the country.

The death toll from the disease also continues to keep rising, as 22 more people died within this period, taking the total number of deaths 408.

Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily online briefing.

In the last 24 hours, 42 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 10,262 samples, she added.

According to Worldometer, The confirmed coronavirus cases in various countries of the world are now 5,085, 504 while the death tally from the deadly virus climbed to 329,731 as of Thursday morning.

With the confirmed cases and casualties, the number of recovered patients is also rising as it was 2,021,666 on Thursday morning, which is 86 percent of the total cases, the worldometer data revealed.

Currently, 2,734,107 confirmed COVID-19 patients are being treated and 45,802 of them are in serious or critical condition.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is highly infectious and spread to over 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
