Coronavirus: Cumilla Upazila Chairman, 37 Others Test Positive

Thirty-eight people, including the Sadar Upazila Chairman and a city corporation councillor, were infected with coronavirus on Wednesday.

Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Sahadat Hossain said they received the test results earlier in the day.

New patients include Adarsha Sadar Upazila Chairman Advocate Aminul Islam Tutul, three officials of Upazila Parishad and no. 21 Ward Councilor of Cumilla City Corporation, Kazi Mahbubur Rahman.

So far, Cumilla has recorded 711 cases.

Bangladesh announced on Wednesday the detection of 1,541 new coronavirus cases, with a total of 38,292. During this period, 22 more people died of coronavirus, taking the death to 544.
