Domestic Flights Resume after 2 Months

Operation of domestic flights in Bangladesh resumed in a limited scale on Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Syedpur routes from this morning (Monday), after two months and seven days of hiatus due to coronavirus situation.

The flight operation started a day after the government reopened all offices lifting general holidays on May 31.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has already taken several steps at the airports to check virus transmission. Passengers were urged to travel after maintaining social distance. The airport authority has set a thermal scanner to measure the body temperature of every passenger. They are also providing hand sanitizer, hand gloves and masks to the passengers.

The flight operators were asked to follow the health guideline amid the changed situation of coronavirus pandemic.

Primarily, 4 domestic flights started operating on a small scale and later gradually flights on internal routes will resume, airport sources said.

''But the embargo on international flights will be in place until June 15,'' CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshall Muhammad Mafidur Rahman told media.

Cargo, relief, air-ambulance, emergency landing and specials flights will continue operation.
