People in Red Zones Urged to Say prayers at Home

The government has urged all people, living in the government announced red zones irrespective of religions, to say their prayers or offer their rituals at respective homes amid novel coronavirus outbreak.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a notice containing five-point guidelines for people in red zones (highly vulnerable areas to Covid-19) and advised all Muslim devotees except Khatibs, Imams, Muajjjins and Khadems to pray at home and tell Zohr prayers at home instead of offering Jummah in Jamaat (congregation).

In order to keep on praying in mosques in Jamaat in the red zones, not more than five persons, including Khatib, Imam and Muajjin, may offer prayers in mosques for five times, and not more than 10 persons may join in prayer in keeping health guidelines and social distances, the notice said.

Members of other communities have also been asked to perform their respective rituals at homes avoiding assemblage at prayer houses, it said.

Waz mahfil, tafsir mahfil, tablig talim or milad mahfil will not be allowed, it added.

Religious Affairs Ministry issued the notice in light with the decision taken in a meeting chaired by health and family welfare minister on Friday.
