2 killed in Separate Road Accidents in Rajshahi

Two people, including a truck driver, were killed today and six others injured in two separate road accidents in the district.

According to police and hospital sources, the deceased were identified as a truck driver, Ishaque Ali, 46, from the village of Mongalbaria, Kustia district, and Mistaque Rahman, 45, from the village of Balanagar, Bagmara Upazila, Rajshahi district.

Rabiul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of the Chandrima Police Station, said Ishaque Ali and his helper Hossen Ali, 22, were seriously injured when their truck hit another stranded truck with a large force in the Kharkhari Bypass area around 6:30 a.m.

They immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where Ishaque succumbed to his injuries.

On the other hand, Mistaque was killed on the spot and five others injured when a cattle-laden human hauler turned turtle and fell into a roadside ditch in Gopalpur area under Bagmara Upazila around 2.30 pm.

The wounded were admitted to RMCH, said Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagmara Police Station.

Two separate cases were recorded with the respective police stations in these connections.
