Validity of Temporary NID Cards Extended for Indefinite Period

The Election Commission ( EC) has extended the tenure of all forms of provisional national identification cards (NIDs) for an indefinite period.

"The validity of national identification cards with a duration of two years from the date of issue has been prolonged for an indefinite period," said the press release of the EC Secretariat.

So, from now on, all kinds of temporary NIDs will be regarded as valid ones, it said.

Service providing institutions will be able to verify the cards of service recipients from NID system and all are asked not to deny any service recipients for validity of NIDs, the release said.

In addition, if required, NID holders with cards engraved on the back page of the cards may download their NIDs (without specifying tenure and cards as well as cards provided from offices) by registering at services.nidw.gov.bd free of charge and can use them after printing and laminating.
