Journalist Mashuk Chowdhury Passes Away

Renowned poet and veteran journalist Mashuk Chowdhury died of Pneumonia on Tuesday night at the age of 73.

Masushk Chowdhury, also the Chief News Editor (CNE) of one the most circulated Bengali daily newspaper ''Bangladesh Pratidin'' breathed his last around 1:30pm at Rushmono Specialized Hospital in the capital.

He left behind his wife, a daughter and host of relatives to mourn his death.
He has been undergoing treatment at the Pan Pacific Hospital in the city's Shahjahanpur area since June 16 for pneumonia.
He had tested negative for coronavirus.

He was later taken to Rushmono Hospital as his condition deteriorated around 12 am, said Anisur Rahman, a reporter of Bangladesh Pratidin.

His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Hazipara while his second namaz-e-janaza was held at Uttar  Madartek Baitullah Jam-e- mosque in the city on Wednesday.

Later, he was buried at Madartek graveyard.

Mashuk Chowdhury took journalism as a profession after completion of his Master's Degree from the Bangla Department of the University of Dhaka.

He worked at different daily nationals of the country. Bangladesh Pratidin was his last house of profession.

As a poet, Mashuk Chowdhury will be remembered for his poetry book “Swarger Replica”. The other well-known books are--'Muktijuddha Priyatma Amar', 'Selected Poems', 'Atyagasahan' and 'Nadir Naam Duhsomay'.
