DMCH Director Dismisses Food Bill Reports

The Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital has dismissed the reports of Tk 200 million in monthly food bills for the doctors, attendants and other health workers occupied with the treatment of coronavirus patients. 

"There is no uncertainty that it is bogus. The cash is spent to take care the hotel bills. We are spending Tk 500 for food for each individual. We have referenced it while getting endorsement from the service," Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin said. 

Prime Minister Sheik Hasina requested an examination concerning the issue of over the exorbitant food bills for the DMCH staff. 

Confronting extreme criticism over the issue, the DMCH Director offered a clarification to journo's on Wednesday. 

In any event 150 Doctors, 250 attendants and in excess of 100 other health workers got infected with coronavirus as of now. They are isolated in lodgings in accordance with the health protocols, he said. 

The DMCH requested that food bills must be restricted within Tk 500 every day for every individual, the chief said. 

"Inn rents extend from Tk 500 to Tk 5,000, which represents the majority of the consumption. Other than the lease and food charges, we have to pay for their drive. We have 15 minibusses, two microbuses and two transports for them to drive three times each day," he said. 

They evaluated a spending plan of Tk 200 million for two months after the legislature requested a gauge, said Nasir Uddin. 

"We are running the railroad medical clinic and set a financial plan of Tk 10 million for that."
