Bangladesh's Coronavirus Deaths Cross 2,000-Mark

Bangladesh today hit another dark milestone as the number of Covid-19 deaths crossed the 2000 mark, three days after reported cases exceeded 1.5 lakh.

The fatality rate in Bangladesh is 3.55 percent on average, which is 4.69 percent smaller than in the country.

The Directorate-General of Health Services (DGHS) announced the first death of Covid-19 in the world on 18 March. Coronavirus's death toll reached 1,000 marks on June 10 after 94 days of the epidemic. However, the next 1,000 deaths reported in the last 25 days.

Globally, the virus has killed about 5,33 lakh people and has infected 1,14 crore more so far. It killed 129,676 people in the USA alone to date, followed by Brazil (64,265 deaths) and the United Kingdom (44,283 deaths).

The Health Directorate has reported 55 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 2738 fresh cases of infection in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 2,052 and the number of total infections stood at 162,471. 

Additional Director General of Health Directorate Professot Dr Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.
