Quick And Safe Rohingya Repatriation Good for All: India

India has said that the repatriation of Rohingyas in a safe, secure and sustainable manner will be important for everyone, noting that it feels the need for the repatriation of Rohingyas.

Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told his Bangladesh counterpart Dr. AK Abdul Momen that India feels the need for a swift repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indian Minister has written a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, where the matter was raised.

Jaishankar highly appreciated Bangladesh's generosity and humanity as shown by the protection of Rohingyas in Bangladesh.

He reiterated his government's commitment to stay alongside the Government of Bangladesh and its people to overcome the challenges of COVID-19.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of India also stated that the relationship between the two countries will continue to grow in the two countries.

Bangladesh wants other countries to share the burden of providing better life and living for persecuted Rohingyas in their own countries or relocate and settle them in third countries.

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen recently said that nearly three years have passed, and while Myanmar has offered to accept them back, not a single Rohingya has yet returned home.

Bangladesh is now home to over 1.1 million Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar district, most of whom have entered Bangladesh since August 25 , 2017 in the midst of military crackdowns in the Rakhine State of Myanmar.
