ACC Will Intensify Drive against Graft in Health Sector

Iqbal Mahmood, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said that the national anti-graft agency will intensify its drive to bring to justice those engaged in corruption in the health sector and scam relief.

"Although the Commission's regular activities have been halted as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic, it will step up its actions against those engaged in relief and health corruption," he said at a virtual meeting on Friday.

The Chief of the ACC warned that grafting suspects would be brought to justice for the welfare of the people.

The full commission meeting was held on the implementation of its Strategic Work Plan 2019, an ACC press release said.

Mahmood said that more than 18 Commission officers had been diagnosed with coronavirus so far, while two ambitious officers died of COVID-19.

In the face of this adverse circumstance, he added, ACC authorities are lodging charges, charging offenders, calling, and interrogating the accused.

“Perform your duties following the health guidelines. If necessary, conduct inquiry and investigation activities staying at home. In such cases, the file register must be followed in the movement of documents and the ACC secretary should be informed of it,” he added.

The virtual meeting was joined by ACC Commissioners AFM Aminul Islam and Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan and senior ACC officials.
