All Routine Tours Using Govt Fund to Be Avoided

The Government has decided that officials of all government, semi-government, autonomous and other institutions must avoid routine travel in the 2020-21 fiscal year requiring the usage of funds allocated for travel purposes under the Operations and Development Budget.

The Government has taken the decision to ensure the proper usage of limited resources by allocating adequate funds for the prioritized sectors to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, read a press release issued by the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.

The statement stated that the money given as travel expenses can only be used in the case of an emergency.

Apart from these, 50 percent of the government's travel budget allocations will remain postponed, the statement said.

The decision will be effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice has been given, the statement added.
