3 Bangladeshi Nationals Beaten to Death in Assam

Three Bangladeshi nationals who were alleged to be cattle smugglers were lynched by locals in the Karimganj district of Os Assam, India, about midnight on 18 July. Four people have fled from across the border.

Quoting Kumar Sanjit Krishna, District Superintendent of Police, The Hindu said the incident occurred at the Bogrijan Tea Estate under the Patharkandi Police Station near the 134 Battalion of the Border Security Force E Group. The place is situated next to the frontier with Bangladesh and around 1.5 km from the closest police outpost.

The police recovered the bodies of the three people and an operation was underway to hand them over to the Bangladeshi authorities via the border security Force.

This was the second such incident in less than two months in the Karimganj district.
