DSCC Will Remove Wastes of Sacrificial Animals within 24Hrs

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) must dispose of the waste of sacrificial animals within 24 hours of Holy Eid-ul-Azha in order to keep the region safe and avoid environmental contamination.

A monitoring control room has been set up in the Shitalakkha Hall of Nagar Bhaban to oversee cattle markets and waste disposal activities for slaughter animals, a press release said.

In addition, a further unit has been set up in conjunction with DSCC officials and workers to manage municipal waste collection operations in 75 places. Every city dweller under the Dhaka South City Corporation can contact the Mobile Control Room on 01709900705.

Approximately 5.5 thousand metric tons of waste would be generated on the day of Eid-ul-Azha and one lakh special bag will be distributed from the DSCC for storing of waste, it added.

Animals must be killed in 75 specified sites in 75 DSCC counties. One lakh leaflets have been distributed to create public awareness to this end.

A total of 6,000 cleaners, including DSCC's own, outsourcing and primary waste collection service providers, and all levels of DSCC officials and staff will be ready to ensure a clean environment.

A total of 300 heavy and light vehicles have been planned and the site of sacrifice would be decontaminated by spraying water combined with savlon and bleaching by 12 carts of water.

To protect the environment and keep it free from pollution, about 42 tons of bleaching powder and 1,800 liters of liquid disinfectant will be sprayed in the designated places of DSCC, the release added.
