List of Verified News Portals Set to Be Released

The government is expected to issue a list of online news portals that have been chosen for registration after a rigorous verification process.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud made the statement on Thursday afternoon during an exchange of views with journalists at the secretariat.

"Online news portals, which have not been opposed to by government agencies, will immediately be allowed to be registered. A list of these portals is going to be released tonight, "he said.

He also urged the officials of the other news outlets not to be disappointed, because this is merely the initial list, reports UNB.

Just a handful of the 3,000 news outlets will be released tonight. "It is an ongoing operation," Mahmud said.

Other online news portals will be added to the list after the agency's verification report has been issued, the Minister added.
