3 of a Family Burned Dead in Chattogram Slum Fire

Three family members were burned to death as a slum fire broke out in the A K Khan area of the port city on Friday night.   

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 60, his wife Ayesha Begum, 50, and their 18-month-old grandson Rashed, son of Rubel Ahmed.

According to the fire service control room, a fire broke out in the slum of Azam Nagar at 7:30 p.m.

ON Information Eight vehicles of two fire stations rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after two hours of frantic effort.

Later, the three burnt bodies were retrieved from the slum, Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Chowdhury of Chattagram's Divisional Fire Service Media Cell said.

According to the slum dwellers, there were at least 100 shanties in the fire.

In fact, at least 28 people were wounded in the incident.
