Fake Covid-19 Certificates: Indictment Hearing against Sabrina, 7 Others Today

A Dhaka court is set to start a hearing on charges against eight men, including JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury in a case filed today on charges of issuing fake coronavirus test reports.

On August 13, Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari fixed today for the hearing accepting time petitions of five accused in the case, reports media.

On August 5, Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted a charge sheet accusing eight people including Dr Sabrina in the case.

The other accused are Sabrina's husband and JKG's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Ariful Chowdhury, Executive Officer Shafiqul Islam, graphic designer Humayun Kabir Himu and four other employees—-Himu 's wife Tanzina Patwary, Jebunesa Rima, Sayeed Chowdhury and Biplob Das.

According to the case, on 23 June, Kamal Hossain, who received a fake Covid-19 certificate from JKG Health Care, filed a case against Humayun Kabir Himu, his wife Tanzina and several unknown persons with the Tejgaon Police Station.

Police, later, arrested Himu and Tanzina on the same day and confessed to their involvement in issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
