Govt Employees Not to Talk to Media without Permission

No government employees will be allowed to talk to the mass media or to post any statements, views and articles publicly without the approval of the respective department heads.

In this respect, the Ministry of Public Administration sent a letter to the senior secretaries and secretaries of all ministries urging them to follow the directive.

In a letter released on Tuesday, the Ministry referred to the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules of 1979, which contains the same guidelines to be observed by government workers.

Government employees are not permitted to engage in any radio/television service except those focused in their specific area of 'true duty,' the letter stated.

The secretaries have been asked to provide necessary instructions to the staff of all subordinate departments and divisions in this regard.
