ACC Files Charge-Sheet against Ex-DIG Prisons Partha

On Monday, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed an indictment against the suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Partha Gopal Bonik.

Investigation Officer (IO) and ACC Deputy Director Md Salauddin filed an indictment today at the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. In the situation, the IO has appointed 14 individuals as trial witnesses.

Partha, who was working at Sylhet Central Jail, was seen to be detained by the ACC on 28 July 2019 as he confiscated Taka 80 lakh from his North Green Road apartment.

"He did not report the money in his income tax register, causing us to think it was unlawfully accrued," said ACC director Mohammad Yousuf on that day.

Partha, after his detention, claimed that the vehicle he used and kept in his own parking space was really his friend's. Of the revenue, Partha said, Taka 30 lakh was provided to him by his mother-in-law, and he received 50 lakh in his years of service.
