US to Continue Pressurising Myanmar to Resolve Rohingya Crisis: Miller

Earl Miller- U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh- has said that the international community will continue to pressure Myanmar to uphold human rights by establishing the requirements for the free, voluntary, dignified and permanent return of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

He said beyond Bangladesh’s borders, it is also up to the international community to take action, reports UNB.

"Such action must take place in New York, Geneva, The Hague, and here in the region," In a webinar in the capital, he said that he relied on unhindered humanitarian access, adhered to the truce and participated in diplomatic dialog to seek peace.

Ambassador Miller said that the US will continue to be a pioneer in delivering humanitarian relief, increasing political leverage and working as a conduit for international and global reaction to the Rohingya crisis.

He insisted on renewed attempts to enforce the findings of the Kofi Annan Advisory Commission on the Rakhine State on the systemic reforms required to tackle institutional discrimination and mistrust.
