Holy Ashura: Tajia Processions, Rallies Banned

Marking the celebration of the Holy Ashura on August 30 (10 Muharram), all kinds of Tajia processions, rallies have been banned in Dhaka Metropolitan areas.

A press notification signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Isam revealed this information on Wednesday.

With a view to ensuring the safety of Dhaka residents in the current pandemic situation of coronavirus or Covid-19, all kinds of Tajia processions, rallies have been restricted as per the powers conferred on sections 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance (Ordinance No-000/76), the notification added.

This directive will remain in force from staring to the end of the ceremony marking the occasion of the Holy Ashura, the DMP also stated.
