Light to Moderate Rain Likely in Parts of Country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast mild to moderate rainfall or thundershowers followed by temporary gusts of wind in sections of the region, reports BSS.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by localized gusts of wind are likely to occur at several locations across Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and at a few locations across Rajshahi, Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions with relatively heavy falls at scattered locations across the country on the day," the meeting said.

Day temperatures may remain almost unchanged and night temperatures may rise slightly across the region, he said.

Met release also stated that the well-marked low over Bihar and the adjacent area now lies over East Madhya Pradesh and the adjacent region.

Monsoon trough axis passes through Rajasthan, Horiyana, Uttar Pradesh, the middle of the well-marked plateau, West Bengal to Assam through central Bangladesh as one of its related troughs stretches to North Bay.

Monsoon is moderately successful in Bangladesh and mild in North Bay.

The maximum temperature of the world on Thursday was 35.0 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and the minimum temperature at Sandwip today is 23.9 degrees Celsius.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours to 6 a.m. today was reported at 53 millimeters ( mm) in Kutubdia.

The sun sets at 6.20 pm today and rises at 5.40 am tomorrow in the capital.
