All Houses to Come Under Holding Tax

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will begin a drive on Tuesday taking all the houses and buildings under its tax net.

Revenue will be levied on newly built buildings and houses aside from re-fixing the amount of taxation on establishments now below the net.

Sources said the city corporation planned to start the move at a period when the corona pandemic is adversely impacting its tax earnings.

Earlier at different schemes, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said its construction initiatives are being seriously hampered by a decline in revenue generation.

He announced the fresh change on Sunday when visiting numerous areas inside the company.

Many people use institutions economically however, Atiqul claimed, they don't pay a proper tax.

Owners of both houses and corporate entities will have to pay due to tax, he said, adding up to about Tk100 crore the sum of the unpaid figure stands.

He also issued cautioned against the grabbers of footpaths and government properties and lands.
