A Dhaka court has accepted the charge sheet against suspended Sylhet range, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Partha Gopal Banik, in a case filed over the recovery of Tk 80 lakh in illicit properties from his Dhaka house.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge K M Imrul Kayes accepted the charge sheet on Monday and also transferred it to Dhaka Special Judges Court-10 for hearing the appeal on charging.
Earlier on 24 August, Md Salauddin, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), lodged an indictment against Partha.
On 29 July 2019, the Partha Commission arrested him after he had found Tk 80 lakh in his Kalabagan residence in Dhaka.
Just before his detention, Partha appeared before the Segunbagicha head office commission when he was summoned to face questioning on charges of wrongdoing against him while working in Chattogram Central Prison.
Following his arrest, the home ministry suspended Partha from his post.
He was sent to jail the following day after he was produced before a Dhaka court.
