Boost Monitoring to Minimize Farmers' Losses: Razzque

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Tuesday asked concerned officials to monitor field activities and supervise it closely as soon as possible to recoup farmers’ losses.

''The affected farmers are passing days in uncertainty during the floods and effective work is needed to minimize losses after the floodwater recession,'' he said this at an online meeting with the staff of the ministry after visiting the flood-hit areas.

The government has already formed 14 committees to accelerate monitoring and cooperating activities including the disbursement of fertilizers and seeds. The officials concerned of the ministry will have to work alongside the committee.

The committees have started monitoring the incentive package of the government for keeping up the production of food and minimize the losses of the farmers in 38 flood-hit districts.

Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman will monitor the activities of the committee while Additional Secretary Md Hasanuzzaman will coordinate them.

Committee members will hold regular online meetings and coordinate incentive distribution programs in flood-affected districts.

Additional Secretary Md Hasanuzzaman, Additional Secretary (Admin) Arifur Raman Apu, Additional Secretary (Research) Kamalaranjan Das, and officials concerned of the ministry were present at the meeting.
