73 Bangladesh Citizens to Return Home from Beirut Wednesday

A total of 73 Bangladeshi citizens will return home from Beirut, Lebanon, on Wednesday morning.

The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) aircraft, which handed over relief supplies to Lebanon, will land at Hazrat Shajalal International Airport am with repatriated Bangladeshi nationals from Beirut, reports UNB.

Earlier, Bangladesh provided "emergency relief" to Lebanon to the citizens of Beirut as a gesture of solidarity who are struggling to rebound from the destruction done by the huge twin explosions.

On Monday, Bangladesh Air Force flew a C130 full of relief equipment to Beirut.

The goodwill aid included nine tons of food items, two tons of medicines and medical supplies, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Bangladesh Air Force transport aircraft and four high-level officers of the Bangladesh Navy, an officer of the Bangladesh Army and 12 crew members of the Bangladesh Air Force arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut , Lebanon on Monday.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lebanon Major General Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman handed over the goodwill assistance to the designated local delegate of the Government of Lebanon.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Lebanon, UNIFIL and Embassy were present.

During this difficult time in Lebanon, the government of Bangladesh sent the goodwill aid for the people of Lebanon on behalf of the people of Bangladesh. 

Five Bangladeshi nationals were killed and more than 100 including 21 members of Bangladesh Navy injured in the explosions.

The explosion killed more than 160 victims, injured more than 6,000 and left more than 300,000 homeless.

Bangladesh Navy warship BNS Bijoy, which patrols Lebanon 's water jurisdiction under UNIFIL, was partially destroyed.

The Embassy also urged all, via its hotline call, to warn him of any more casualties.

Around 1.50,000 Bangladeshi nationals operate in a variety of industries in Lebanon.

Hospitals were overwhelmed — one that had been injured in the explosion needed to move all of its patients to the nearest care center.

Buildings were damaged for miles around the city, and Beirut’s governor said Wednesday that hundreds of thousands might not be able to return to their homes for two or three months.
