Public Transport Return to Pre COVID-19 Fare

Public transport today returned to the pre-COVID-19 fare with the removal of 60% of the elevated fare, which was intended to ensure social distance availability of busses in order to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

In addition to the resumption of the former fare for transport services, the provision to leave 50% of the seats empty has also been withdrawn, reports BSS.

Previously, the government halted all public transport activities on 24 March following the coronavirus outbreak in the region. Later, on 31 August, the Government approved the resumption of public transport and train services, according to the maintenance of health guidelines.

The government had also increased the fare by 60 percent in a condition of keeping 50 percent seat vacant. Public transport, however, today returned to their previous fare.
