N’ganj Mosque AC Blast: Death Toll Now 14

The death toll in the air conditioner (AC) blast at the Sadar Upazila Mosque in Narayanganj has increased to 14 as 13 more people died on Saturday.

 All of them died while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina Burn and the Plastic Surgery Institute.

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the institute, confirmed the deaths in the media.

The deceased were identified as Joynal Abedin, 40, Maenuddin, 12, Rifat, 18, Mostofa Kamal, 34, Jubayer, 18, Sabbir, 21, Quddus Bepari, 72, Humayun Kabir, 70, Ibrahim, 43, Delwar Hossen, 48, Junaed, 17, Jamal, 40 and Russel, 34.

Earlier, a child named Jewel died after being burnt from the explosion.

According to locals, the incident took place at Baitus Salah Jame Mosque in Fatulla, as the AC burst into the mosque with a loud noise about 8.45 p.m. on Friday, leaving at least 50 people wounded. Of the wounded, 37 people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
