Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed concern about the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh that the virus can turn deadly at any time in the country.
He made this remark during a press briefing on Monday at his residence in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area of the capital.
Urging everyone to be extremely heedful in following the hygiene rules, including wearing protective masks, the minister said, "As of yet, it can't be said that the Covid-19 infection rate has reduced in the country."
"According to scientists, the virus strain has been changing rapidly at a rate of 13% in Bangladesh, when worldwide the rate is 7.5%," he added.
Mentioning the second wave of coronavirus infection in different parts of the world, the Minister also warned the countrymen against complacency and neglect in the light of the current moderate status of the country.
Covid-19 death toll in Bangladesh has reached to 4,479 and the number of total cases here now stands at 3.25 lakh
