Rifat Murder: Wife Minni among 6 to Walk Gallows

On Wednesday, a Barguna court awarded the death penalty to five accused, including Minni, in the sensational murder case of Rifat Sharif.

Judge Md Asaduzzman of the Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court read out the verdict in the city of Barguna in the midst of increased security.

Security has been beefed up in Barguna town ahead of the verdict in Rifat Sharif murder case today.

In and around the court premises, additional police officers were mobilized while a number of check-posts were established at various points.

The movement of pedestrians around the court is also being restricted.

Rifat’s wife Aysha Siddika Minni went to the court around 9:00 am.

On September 16, Judge Md Asaduzzaman of the District and Sessions set September 30 to deliver the verdict in the murder case.

On June 26 last year, Rifat, 22, the son of Dulal Sharif, was hacked to death in broad daylight in a district town.

The court started the trial on January 1 of this year by indicting 10 accused, including Rifat 's wife, Ayesha Siddika Minni, in the case.
