33 More COVID-19 Deaths, 1,396 New Cases

Bangladesh has reported 33 more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country's death toll from the virus is now 5.305, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General for Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 1,396 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of new coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,66,383.

Of the deceased, 25 were men, and eight were women. Moreover, 21 of them came from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, three from Rajshahi, one from Khulna, Mymensingh and Barishal.

They all died in various hospitals across the country, the press release says.

In the last 24 hours, 11,176 samples were examined in 106 laboratories across the country. So far, 19, 70,251 samples have been tested in the country.

The latest day's infection rate was 12.49 per cent of the total samples, while the average rate in the country to date was 18.60 per cent. The death rate is 1.45 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1,549 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the overall number of recoveries to 278,627 with a recovery rate of 76.05 per cent.

The gender breakdown of the victims of Covid-19 reveals that 4,104 of the total victims were men and 1,201 were women.

The country's first cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first virus death was reported on 18 March.
