Beijing to Deepen Ties with Dhaka Promoting Strategic Partnership

China has affirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas of support for the long-term and sustainable growth of the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership for Cooperation in order to bring further benefits to both nations.

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China, President Abdul Hamid and Chinese President Xi Jinping sent special messages to each other, expressing their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a letter of congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping conveying heartfelt congratulations and warmest greetings to the Chinese Government and people.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sheik Hasina and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang also expressed their heartfelt congratulations on their special messages to each other.

In his message, President Xi calls China-Bangladesh friendship a long-standing one based on deep mutual respect , equality, strong political confidence, and mutually beneficial cooperation to bring tangible benefits to the citizens of both countries.

He said the two nations have written a new chapter of friendship with each other during the Covid 19 Pandemic and stressed further coordination of development strategies, jointly moving forward the Belt and Road Initiative and taking China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership for Cooperation to new heights.

President Hamid said that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with China, which has reached a significant height of cooperation in key areas.

He hopes that the cordial relations will be further improved in the days ahead.

Expressing great satisfaction at the strong momentum of cooperation between Bangladesh and China over the last 45 years, Prime Minister Li Keqiang highlighted the conventional Chinese-Bangladean friendship that has reached new heights in the popular battle against the Covid 19 pandemic.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also recalled Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's fruitful visit to China last year and reiterated China 's commitment to deepen cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas and to foster the long-term and sustainable growth of the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership for Cooperation in order to offer more benefits to both countries.

In the message to Chinese President, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the two nations established contacts more than a thousand years ago which facilitated the flow of knowledge, culture, and trade between the two ancient civilizations.

She also recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s visit to China in 1952 and 1957 as well as how he appreciated the passion, commitment, and efforts of the people of China to the people of Bangladesh in his two books, “Unfinished Memoir” and “The New China As I Saw”.

Highlighting different aspects of Bangladesh-China relations today and appreciating China’s continued aid and support to Bangladesh during the Covid-19 pandemic, she envisions with confidence that the existing cordial ties will be further strengthened in the days to come.

In her message to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Sheikh Hasina appreciated the continued support from China for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh and increased the volume of Chinese investment to its infrastructural development.

China also appreciated collaborating with Bangladesh to address the problem of displaced Myanmar citizens, according to the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.

On the auspicious occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, the Foreign Ministers of both countries exchanged greetings.

Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, said both nations have been strictly following the five principles of peaceful coexistence and cooperation in all areas has borne remarkable fruits.

In an attempt to give new impetus to China-Bangladesh 's Strategic Partnership for Cooperation, Wang Yi expressed strong willingness to continue contact and coordination with his Bangladeshi counterpart while warmly recalling their two telephone conversations this year on cooperation in the battle against Covid-19 and joint efforts to advance the Belt and Road Initiative.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the Bangladesh-China friendship has increased manifolds over the four decades and particularly under the astute leadership of Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina and President Xi Jinping.

He expressed sincere gratitude to China for continued help in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic and appreciated China's continued commitment to establishing a favorable climate in the Rakhine State of Myanmar for the voluntary return of 1.1 million Myanmar nationals currently residing in Bangladesh.
