Protesters Block Shahbagh Demanding Justice for Noakhali Woman

Protesters blocked Shahbagh's intersection in the capital on Monday, protesting the horrible incident of Noakhali's housewife's disruption on social media.

The protesters demanded the resignation of the Minister of Home Affairs for his failure to stop the abuse and oppression of women across the country.

Approximately 100 leaders and activists of the leftist alliance Pragatishil Chhatra Jote and Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon took up positions at the Shahbagh intersection bearing posters in the morning.

They blocked the road around 11:00 a.m. and chanted numerous slogans against increasing violence against women.

The housewife of Noakhali's Begumganj Upazila was molested by some local miscreants at Ward No. 9 of Eklashpur Union of the Upazila last month and a video of the barbaric incident has gone viral on the internet on Sunday.

The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media.

Five youths, including Delwar and his associates Badal, Kalam and Abdur Rahim, molested the housewife on September 2.
