Nixon Chowdhury in HC to Get Anticipatory Bail in EC Case

Independent lawmaker from Faridpur-4 constituency Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury alias Nixon Chowdhury reached High Court to secure anticipatory bail in a case filed in charge of violating the election code of conduct during the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad by-election.

Earlier on Sunday, Nixon Chowdhury filed a petition with the HC seeking anticipatory bail in the case filed by the Election Commission.

This afternoon, Monjurul Alam, a lawyer for Nixon, said that the HC bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar will hold a hearing on the bail petition.

Senior lawyer Dr Shahdeen Malik will appear in court on behalf of Nixon Chowdhury.

On October 15, the Election Commission filed the case against Nixon Chowdhury at the Charbhadrasan Police Station for violating the Election Code of Conduct during the by-elections of the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad.
