Maritime Ports Asked to Hoist Signal No 3

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist the local warning signal number 3 as a low signal has emerged over the central part of the Bay of Bengal.

It is now in the West-Central Bay and adjacent to the East-Central Bay and is likely to increase.

Under its control, squally weather conditions may affect maritime ports, North Bay and the adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh, the Met Office said in a bulletin on Wednesday.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.

According to the regular bulletin, a low has emerged over the central part of the Bay of Bengal and is likely to increase further.

The monsoon axis passes from West Bengal to Assam through the central part of Bangladesh. The monsoon is less active in Bangladesh and weak in the North Bay.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few locations over the Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattrogram divisions and at one or two locations over the Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary, partially cloudy sky in other parts of the country.

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
